In the past three years we have awarded thirteen scholarships to graduating seniors in four different schools. This June 2019, the Foundation awarded four scholarships to students from three schools. We gave two scholarships to Tim’s high school alma mater, Sauquoit Valley Central. One was given to a student who will be attending SUNY ESF in Syracuse for Environmental Engineering and also works at the Paris Town Park. The second was given to one of Tim’s former swim students at Paris Town Park, Chris Knapp (pictured below), who said that Tim was a positive role model for him and now he in turn teaches at the Town Park.
We also gave a scholarship to a Chateaugay Central School student (Tim's mother's alma mater). The family spent a lot of time in Chateaugay. Tim loved Chateaugay and had many wonderful memories with family and friends even bringing Justanna, his wife, there because he wanted her to experience Chateaugay. The student chosen is Chris Cook. Chris is pictured below with Tim's cousin Brinn Golden. Both graduated from Chateaugay Central in 2019. Chris was chosen because he has a good work ethic and good character and is well regarded by his peers and the community.
The fourth scholarship was given to a South Lewis Central School student who volunteers or whose family volunteers/works for one of the six Rescue agencies that came to help Tim: Lyons Falls Ambulance, Glenfield Fire Department, Brantingham Fire Department, Lewis County Search and Rescue, Lifenet NY, and Lewis County Sheriff. The graduating senior who was chosen for the scholarship was a girl who plans on pursuing a nursing degree. She was awarded the distinguished community service diploma for her volunteerism. She along with her parents and grandparents are active volunteers in the Lyons Falls Fire Department. Her grandfather and father were both at Tim’s accident assisting.
Tim would be happy to think he is able to help these students, all for different reasons. Thank you for your help and interest these past three years. If you know of a student who might benefit from a scholarship please email us at info@timothyabohlingfoundation.org.
